Photobiomodulation
Red Light Therapy
Specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light used to support the body's natural healing processes.
How can Red Light Therapy help?
Red Light Therapy is non-invasive and may be used alongside other therapies to support recovery and overall wellbeing. Research into photobiomodulation suggests red and near-infrared light may help support:
- Support relief of muscle and joint pain
- Support healthy inflammatory responses
- Support muscle recovery after exercise
- Support tissue repair
- Support circulation
- Support healthy skin
- Help reduce muscle fatigue and stiffness
- Encourage relaxation and overall wellbeing
Treatment Time & Frequency
Red Light Therapy is offered as a 30-minute standalone session or before a massage. Research into photobiomodulation commonly uses repeated treatments over several weeks, with many protocols using 2–3 sessions per week. Treatment frequency may vary depending on individual needs, the light dose and the purpose of treatment.
For ongoing benefits, regular sessions are generally recommended rather than occasional treatments.
Red Light Therapy Before Massage
Red Light Therapy before massage helps warm and prepare the tissues for hands-on treatment. By supporting circulation, cellular energy production and healthy inflammatory responses, it may help ease muscle stiffness and encourage the tissues to relax. This can make deeper massage techniques more comfortable and help your therapist work more effectively with areas of muscular tension.
